Real Madrid confirm defensive exit before Club World Cup flight

Real Madrid has confirmed that one player leaves the club before the start of their FIFA Club World Cup campaign.

With the domestic season 2024/25 that did not result in a trophy, Real Madrid has already opted for changes, while Xabi Alonso lands to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

A deal for Dean Huijsen was agreed before Alonso signed his contract and an agreement has now been confirmed to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold before the flight to the US.

Extensions in the short term were agreed with club captain Luka Modric and experienced defender Lucas Vazquez and the couple will both play in the tournament.

Vazquez reportedly has a La Liga offer available with modric proposals from Italy, the US and Saudi Arabia.

However, a name that will not be on the flight list to Miami is Jesus Vallejo, with his contract at the end of June.

Los Blancos has confirmed that Vallejo will leave this summer as a free agent next to Modric and Vazquez.

The 28-year-old only made four performances in 2024/25 after his return from a loan spell in Granada last season.

The Vallejo deal ends on June 30, and according to Mundo Deportivo no clause will be activated to take him to North -America while he is looking for a new club for the 2025/26 season.

The extensive tournament starts on June 14 with the first game of Real Madrid against Al Hilal on June 18.

This is followed by group H bumps with Pachuca on 22 June and RB Salzburg on 26 June before the potential start of a knockout stage campaign from 30 June/1.

With the majority of Alonso's team gone in the first week of June, Real Madrid has not confirmed their travel plans, with certain players who may fly to the US separately, depending on their international obligations.
