Paris Saint-Germain won the Champions League for the first time in their history on Saturday on Saturday after an extensive 5-0 win over Inter in the final in Munich. And of the many storylines, a where many neutrals have referred to the aftermath of the competition, is Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe spent seven years on PSG between 2017 and 2024 before he left for Real Madrid last summer. During that period he was unable to win the Champions League, but many quickly got up that his former club did this during their first attempt without him.
But there is no sense of bitterness of Mbappe in the aftermath of PSG's success, while he went to Instagram to congratulate his former club to win the Champions League for the first time.
“The big day has finally arrived. Victory and with the way a whole club, congratulations, psg.”
Mbappe, who is expected to inherit the number 10 sweater in Real Madrid next season, had an impressive individual debut season in 2024-25 when he won the European Golden Boot and Pichichi Trophy. But not only missing the Champions League, he won no great honor, where Barcelona La Liga and the Copa del Rey took as part of a domestic Treble for the Catalans.
Mbappe will be desperate to finally get the Champions League trophy in his hands, but he will continue to wait until at least 2026. The arrival of Xabi Alonso could help Real Madrid return to the success of previous seasons, and they will certainly hope, given the confidence that they have placed in their earlier player.
For now, Mbappe can only watch while his former club celebrates their Champions League success. He, and Real Madrid, will hope it will be their turn in 2026.
