Inter Milan would like to continue with Manager Simone Inzaghi If he wants to stay, club president Giuseppe Marotta said that the 5-0 loss of Saturday for Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the Champions League would not be a factor in their decision-making.
The PSG of Luis Enrique claimed their first Champions League title with the biggest winning margin in a final, while a desperate Inzaghi suffered his second defeat at this stage, two years after he was scary against Manchester City in Istanbul.
The Inzaghi contract with Inter expires in June next year and Marotta confirmed that conversations with the coach will start in the coming days. Italian media speculate that he could leave this month prior to the club cup on 14 June – 13 July in the US.
“This defeat will not have an impact. Inzaghi has a contract for another year and we had already decided to meet him this week,” Marotta told reporters after the defeat in Munich.
“Almost all honor for this positive cycle is due to his professionalism and skills. If he wants to continue, we are happy.
“We meet the coach because this club is not used to let a manager go in the last year of his contract. There is no revolution going on. We will meet each other to hear what he has to say, I repeat, we are very proud and honored to continue with him.”
Marotta congratulated the champions and agreed that Inter was greatly surpassed by the Parisians. “Let's quickly forget and look at the next, with the new start of the club World Cup,” he added. “We will represent Italy together with Juventus.”
