France coach Didier Deschamps will find some of his players in a strange state when they return from the weekend celebrations of Paris Saint-Germain, said Forward Ousmane Dembele after the first Champions League triumph.
PSG crushed Inter Milan 5-0 in the final in Munich on Saturday and recorded the biggest winning margin in the Premier Club competition of the continent.
France players, including PSG's Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaire-Emy, Bradley Barcola, Desire Done and Dembele, will come back from Monday to the national team in Clairefontaine to prepare for Thursday's semi-final on Thursday against Spain.
“There you go, we have made a whole nation, a whole city proud. And, as they say, the party has just begun. Didier will find us in a strange state,” the 28-year-old joked during an interview on the French television channel M6.
The French international described the festivities as a long -awaited release after years of heartache.
PSG's earlier The last performance of the Champions League was in 2020, when they were closely defeated by Bayern Munich with 1-0.
“It is exceptional, what has just happened. Winning final is great, but doing this way is even better, it is even more exciting,” Dembele said.
“To be honest, we earn it. After so many years of hardships and fights, I think Paris St. Germain really deserves this victory.”
There is pleasure in Paris, because fans are waiting for the team's arrival on Sunday, but Dembele urged supporters to keep the festivities calm.
More than 500 people were arrested by the police and two people were reported dead during wild parties in France.
