Conor McGregor urged fans to get behind shock petition created after his record 13-second knockout

UFC Heavyweight Champion Jones is not the first hunter to be the subject of a petition.

The goat candidate is currently being fired for avoiding a unification fight against Tom Aspinall. In the midst of growing anger, some fans have taken matters into their own hands with a petition that calls the UFC to strip Jones.

More than 150,000 have signed in two weeks after it has gone viral. But it is not the first petition about a UFC hunter to get mainstream attention.

Megastar Conor McGregor was also the subject of a petition weeks after history against Jose Aldo who saw him becoming the UFC Feather Wege Champion.

Let's say the petition was considerably different …

Request to place the face of Conor McGregor on the only euro coins in Ireland was rejected

McGregor was not the subject of a petition with regard to his fighting career. On the contrary, the face of the UFC star was presented as the new design for one euro coins in his native Ireland.

In January 2016, a petition was submitted to place McGregor on the coins for the coins.

However, the move was not out of the support and admiration for the recent UFC performance of McGregor.

“For a country with such a rich cultural heritage in music, poetry and art we have been very bad in designing coins (a harp? Really guys? That's original),” is the text of the petition.

“As is apparent from various photos that float around Instagram and Facebook, the Irish UFC champion Conor McGregor has a lot of money. [country’s] Munt to keep it here and pay taxes.

“The best stimulans to have McGregor use the euro is to put his face on the medal. This will also encourage foreign billionaires who are fans of fighting, such as the dragon, to convert their huge rich into € 1 euro coins.”

After the submission of the petition to the Irish parliament, it was discussed during a committee meeting. The petition was judged inadmissibly after the person responsible for submitting it could not be contacted.

Conor McGregor responded positively to the surprise request

The rejection by the Petition Commission could have come as a disappointment for McGregor, who had actually responded to it and had called up fan support.

In a message on X (formerly Twitter), McGregor thanked his 'fans' for the petition, perhaps because he had not read the petition text.

“It would be a real honor for me to be immortal on the coin of € 1! Thank you to my fans for the petition! Let's go oireachtas! Vote yes,” wrote McGregor.

It would be a true honor for me to be immortal on the € 1 currency! Thank you to my fans for the petition! Let's go oireachtas! Vote yes 🙂

Today, McGregor is an increasingly polarized figure in his home country. After a number of legal controversies, the Dubliner has confronted a lot of recoil from some of his countrymen.

But that has not prevented the UFC star from announcing a daring plan to reach Irish presidency.

If McGregor would reach a political office, fans might expect that 'the Notorious' would appear on coins, given his past enthusiasm about the possibility.
