PSG claimed a historic Champions League triumph after he defeated Inter Milan on Saturday and Boss Luis Enrique was asked who their toughest opponents were on the way – but refused to call Arsenal
PSG Baas Luis enrique Sikt Arsenal when mentioning their heaviest opponents in the Champions League this season -after they first won the trophy with a 5-0 hammering of Inter Milan. The Ligue 1 -Outfit ran into the Italian side on Saturday evening when Enrique won the competition for the second time in his career.
The men of Enrique saw Arsenal over two legs in the semi-final to reach the showpiece in Munich and defeated the Gunners 3-1 in total.
The side of Mikel Arteta did not succeed in getting the heights of their famous victory over Real Madrid in the previous round – so that they had thrown away the ruling champions after a 5-1 total victory.
But against PSG, Arsenal was much more modest-for the first time with 1-0 at the Emirates before a 2-1 defeat in Paris.
When asked about PSG's biggest obstacles on the way to Glorie, Enrique Liverpool and Aston Villa mentioned, but did not succeed in being taken in Arsenal.
“There were a few games that tested us this season,” said the Spaniard, talk to CBS Sports.
“For example, Liverpool made things very difficult, especially in transitions. Aston Villa was also one of the more organized parties that we encountered.”
It was a difficult arsenal season because they finished second without silverware and 10 points behind the Premier League champions Liverpool ended.
As far as PSG was concerned, they completed a historic treble – when Enrique made up the performance with a second club after Barcelona.
The Spaniard admitted that he had been left “emotionally” after the victory over Inter after the fans of the club had brought tribute to his deceased daughter Xana with a huge tifo of her after her death by cancer in 2019 at the age of nine years old.
He said: “I am very happy. In the end it was very emotional with the fans' banner for my family. But I always think of my daughter. It means a lot. It is so much fun, but I don't have to win the Champions League to remember my daughter.
“My daughter is always with us, especially when we are lost. Enjoying everything with my family and trying to get the positive points, even at the bad moments.”
