Liverpool -goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has made no secret of his wish to play football regularly and the Republic of Ireland International is now close to Brentford
Cooimhin Kelleher is ready to join Brentford in a deal that could reach £ 18 million after the goalkeeper of the Republic of Ireland had been given the way to pursue a permanent movement of Liverpool.
Kelleher, 26, has earned many admirers as a result of his impressive versions for the Reds in the past. But with Alisson who retains his place as the first-choice of Liverpool and Giorgi Mhaldashvili who arrive in Anfield from Valencia in the coming transfer window, all parties now agree that a permanent move is the best.
The interest of Brentford in Kelleher has long existed and it emerged earlier this week that they had generated conversations with their Premier League rivals during a deal.
The current No. 1 of the bees, Mark Flekken, is set to complete his own transfer to Bayer Leverkusen – and that has cleared the way for a movement that Kelleher should give the regular football where he hunes to, with Sky Sports that a deal has been agreed with the player who is undergoing a medical Monday.
Kelleher has made no secret of his wish to play regularly and confirmed that he would be on the move this summer during the recent Liverpool title celebrations.
“Yes, yes,” he said. “I also said it before, I feel that I am good enough to be a number 1 and I feel that I am good enough to play out week in week and that is what I want to do.
“This season I was lucky to play a lot of games, but it is definitely something I am looking at.”
Kelleher spoke in June that the departing manager of the Reds, Jurgen Klopp, had the best he wanted him and wanted to see him play.
The keeper said: “He had some nice words for me. I was with him for a number of years and he said:” You became a brilliant keeper at the time. “He is going to follow my career wherever I go.
“The season I have had, I played many matches and had that taste of a number one this season. Whether that is in Liverpool or elsewhere, that is still too viewed. My most important focus is at the moment to be number one.
“I clearly love playing for Ireland. A great ambition of mine is to be the number one here – that clearly only comes hand in hand when I am also number one in the club. That also plays a major role, in terms of helping my case to be Ireland number one.”
