Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is undoubtedly involved in their transfer plans and has a voice in what they do. One that after the season bears considerably more weight that the Blaugrana has just had. His role, however, remains to coach the team, instead of making movements on the transfer market, as has become clear on the basis of the last arrival from Barcelona.
In the past two weeks, Barcelona has made a strong game for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, in which the Catalan side made progress in conversations with the 24-year-old and willing to pay his release clause of € 25 million. During the weekend, Captain Marc-Andre Ter Stegen made it clear that he would not stand aside, Garcia was to arrive at the club.
During the weekend it was reported that Flick and his employees believe that Garcia ter Stegen could beat in a competition. Yet Sport says that Flick is not standing to replace Ter Stegen as a priority for this summer. He had agreed with director of Football Deco that was the priority to sign an attacker to give Barcelona more options as a priority, in addition to keeping the team they have together.
Interestingly, they note that Deco is of the same spirit, or at least was. Although Flick appreciates that Garcia is an excellent opportunity in the transfer market and would welcome him with open arms, he thought the goalkeeper position was covered with Ter Stegen that returned to Fitness next summer. If Deco also believed, this suggests that the club has made an executive decision to pursue Garcia, above their manager and football department.
The potential problematic nature of this is made more acute by the continuous salary problems of Barcelona. Even if their VIP chairs of € 100 million are approved, Barcelona will not be within their salary limit again this summer and as such, signing sessions will be difficult. It means that a movement for Garcia Flick and Deco could train from reinforcement in a priority area.
