Liverpool is talking to Bayer Leverkusen about what a club record deal would be for Florian Wirtz, but the Bundesliga-outfit is said to look at some of the players of their rivals
Liverpool works hard to try to find a breakthrough in their attempt to penetrate a blockbuster translation for Florian Wirtz – and it has now been suggested that a deal can depend on Harvey Elliott.
Elliott, 22, is a player Bayer Leverkusen admiration and as such there is interest in him in the opposite direction such as the Bundesliga -Outfit Wirtz gives the green light to pursue a dream movement for the Premier League champions.
In the case of Elliott, it is still to be seen whether a move to Germany would appeal. But the talented midfielder has regularly found football difficult to pass Arne Slot.
He only started twice in the Premier League last season, where he made a total of 18 performances. And the former prospect of Fulham has already hinted that he might have to consider his future this summer.
Speaking after Liverpool was defeated 3-2 in Brighton in their penultimate match of the season last month, Elliott admitted: “You are not trying to be dragged too much through the parties, we have worked very hard the entire season.
“Some guys, like myself, have not played so much the whole season, and it is about going out and enjoying it. We want to win and enjoy it. We have to take the positives and take it to the last game next week.”
Elliott also fed such a conversation when he was seen in tears on the field after Liverpool was consumed as champions only six days later.
He again referred that he could be moving this summer after he admitted: “You never know what will happen”. He said: “I think this one, I played more a role in winning the competition [than the Reds’ 2020 triumph].
“The season we won the last time I was a young child, I think I only made four performances or something. So now it certainly feels like I have been a lot in it and around it.
“Since I returned from my injury, I have been to every team, so I am just part of it, just traveling, the away games, all the things outside, it feels a lot bigger this time.
“I just try to enjoy every experience, because you never know what will happen.
“You cannot take these moments as a matter of course, you just have to enjoy it as much as possible, celebrate as much as possible.”
With Elliott apparently open for an exit and liverusen who are interested in bringing him to Germany, it seems that the theory of He and Wirtz 'exchange clubs can have some legs.
Liverpool has now seen a second bid for Wirtz worth £ 109 million and is still a way of the £ 126 million valuation of Leverkusen. However, the prospect of landing Elliott can alleviate the position of Leverkusen and help all parties to find a breakthrough.
