The lawsuit involving Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio continues. The 22-year-old has defended his innocence, but is accused of distributing sexual content without permission and the distribution of child pornography.
The incident took place in the summer of 2023, in which Asencio and three other Real Madrid Academy Talents were involved, Juan Dominguez, Ferran Ruiz and Andres Martin, who have since left the club. The investigation into the incident stated that the other players were involved in sex with two girls, at the time 16 and 18 years old, and the couple reportedly included without their permission. Asencio is reportedly shared material of the recording.
As explained by Cadena Cope, the case will be tried after the end of the investigation into the incident. The victim who was a minor, and the other victim both moved to submit charges against Asencio. They are looking for a prison sentence of four years and a fine of € 58k for temporary injuries, post -traumatic stress and spiritual suffering.
In the meantime, the same outlet also says that the legal team of Asencio is relaxed about the issue. Despite the seriousness of the situation, his legal representation noted that 'we are calm and we will go to the end' [to prove his innocence].
Asencio had been quiet for a while about the issue, but after he was formally accused of misconduct, he wrote an open letter that defended his innocence in May and stated that the suspicion of innocence should rule.
“I would like to repeat again, my absolute respect for the rights to sexual freedom and privacy of all women,” Asencio has ended the statement.
It should be noted that sentences in Spain tend to be converted into suspended sentences for less than two years, instead of real prison sentence.
