Gyokeres has incredible record, Sesko with potential, who should Arsenal sign?

In an ideal world for Arsenal, Aston Villa Man United is said to have defeated on the last day of the season to get Newcastle out of the picture in the race for the Champions League.

There is no specific malice behind that thought, although a demoralizing Carabao Cup semi-final defeat by the Magpies means that the side of Eddie Howe is not particularly loving by Gunners fans.

But rather, Toon Striker Alexander Isak was seen as a dream summer goal for Mikel Arteta while looking forward to strengthening his attacking options, but given the Champions League football, every movement can now be excluded.

Nevertheless, it is expected that it will still be a few months before Arsenal, stimulated by a strong PSR position – and the wallet will be detached if they try to strengthen in different positions.

There is no doubt that No 9 is the biggest priority, with the lack of a quality option that plays a major role in the third consecutive second place in front of Arteta while they attracted 14 of their 38 Premier League matches to end 10 points in Adrift of Liverpool.

Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko are the two most important contenders, but Arsenal fans and those in the club are torn apart about who would be the better option.

Both Gyokeres and Sesko are on its own top strikers and each have many positives – and impressive goal records – to encourage their business to the Arsenal recruitment team.

On the one hand, a movement for Sesko would be logical, since the Slovenian star has been a long -term objective.

The Gunners have previously done a lot of the basics about a potential deal, because they almost sign him last summer before the player was not sure about how much playing time he would get.

Sesko has since had 26 goals for Club and Country this season and on 21, the striker, which will be 22 on Saturday, presents an ideal profile for future growth.

A transfer to Arsenal also feels like the perfect next step for Sesko, who has carefully built his career so far.

After moving to Red Bull Salzburg at the age of 16, he initially made an impression on loan at their sister club FC FCing that plays in the Austrian second row.

Two strong seasons saw him score 22 goals in 44 games when he then made the step to the first team of Salzburg to fill the emptiness that was left by Erling Haaland's departure to Borussia Dortmund in 2020.

Sesko flourished and in the summer of 2023 he was interested in various teams throughout Europe, before he finally chose to join RB Leipzig to stay within the Red Bull Network.

In Germany, Sesko has gained a crucial experience in a major European competition and well performed despite Leipzig that has passed two difficult campaigns.

In 2024-25 he yielded 21 times in 45 games, although Leipzig crashed in the competition phase of the Champions League after seven defeats in eight games and finished seventh in the Bundesliga.

The variety of goals from Sesko is also an extra positive for potential lovers, with the 21-year-old this season only scored six times from the penalty spot.

Sesko is strong with both feet and has scored several headers – and in general he has an impressive career record of 90 goals and 25 assists in 210 games.

His experience with the Champions League would also be useful for Arsenal, although he does not really have to enjoy success in the competition.

During four seasons, Sesko scored only six goals in 28 games.

However, it should be noted that the 21-year-old has generally played for teams who struggled in the Champions League and he managed to hold four times in eight games this time.

But when Arsenal weighs whether or not he goes for Sesko, which is appreciated at £ 92.5 million, there are also several factors that can encourage them to go for Gyokees.

The Swedish attacker enjoyed an incredible two years at Sporting and it is generally expected to leave Portugal this summer.

It is even understanding that Sport is currently looking for a new striker to replace the former frontman of Brighton and Coventry.

The Portuguese side demands more than £ 70 million, which means that the options of the Swede are limited to a few clubs with the financial power and willingness to spend it on a player.

But Arsenal is such a team, and the new sports director Andrea Berta would admire Gyokeres of his time working in Atletico Madrid.

And you can see why, with Gyokeres who have an excellent record of 97 goals in 102 games since he goes £ 20.2 million at a bargain.

A campaign from 2024-25 in which the Swede has just seen 54 goals and adds 13 assists in 52 races, led to the profile of Gyokeres to rise exponentially, something that was mainly stimulated by its Champions League form.

On what his first experience with the competition was, Gyokeres scored six goals in eight games, included an excellent hat trick against Man City in November.

His turnout has been less serene than that of Sesko, with the 26-year-old, whose birthday is next week, failing to get the figure in Brighton during a four-year enchantment who also saw him struggling on loan in Swansea.

However, a flame was lit as soon as he closed in two seasons at Coventry and 40 goals, while a permanent player Gyokeres delivered a switch to sport.

Despite his incredible record, there are a few worries around Gyokeres, including the fact that he will be 27 at the start of the following season, five years Senior van Sesko.

His struggles in Brighton, although they now seem irrelevant, raise some questions, since he never played in a top five European League, something that Sesko has done with the Bundesliga.

Mail Sport has previously reported how this is a representation, internally reflected in Arsenal, with figures torn or the striker can hit the ground in the Premier League.

There is also the fact that 20 of his 54 goals were punished this season, although Gyokeres scored every place, perhaps that is something to view positive.

He also struggled to assert himself during Sporting's 5-1 thrashing by Arsenal in the Champions League.

Nevertheless, the international record of the Swede is impressive, where Gyokees scored 15 times in 26 games compared to Sesko's 16 in 41 for Slovenia, although the standard of their respective teams has to be taken into account again.

Whatever they decide, it feels like Arsenal will get top quality striker this summer and one that they hope will bring to a trophy after more than five years.

Both strikers have their qualities, with Gyokees having an incredible goal record for the past two years.

In 2024-25, the 26-year-old even had a goal every 79 minutes and 56 percent of his chances converted.

This better performed Sesko, whose target-minute ratio is 156, while he has a conversation percentage of 47.1 percent.

A reservation of this is the quality of their competitions and the fact that Gyokeres had 3.9 shots per game compared to Seskos 2.31. He was also an average of 9.16 touches in the opposition box, almost three times that of the 3.29 of the Slovenian.

In general, it feels like, although Sesko has a poorer goal record than his striking rival, the fact that he is proven in a large European competition and is extremely attractive on an upward curve.

Arsenal has also done a lot of due diligence on him as a target and they have been following the 21-year-old for a long time.

The Gunners have a lot of money to spend this summer and although Sesko is probably more expensive than Gyokees, his physicality, age and potential average post sport are in favor of preference as the better option.
