Arsenal and Liverpool get final answer over shock Julian Alvarez transfer

Julian Alvarez has been associated with a quick return to the Premier League with Arsenal and Liverpool who is interested in his services, but Atletico Madrid is not for sale

Julian Alvarez will remain 'an Atletico Madrid player' this summer, despite a strong transfer interest in the former Manchester City striker of the Premier League, says Club President, Enrique Cerezo.

Alvarez, 25, enjoyed a fantastic girl season with the Spanish giants and scored 29 goals in all competitions after changing the Premier League for La Liga in a £ 80 million deal. He also looked at the Etihad during his two years, despite the competing time with Erling Haaland, so it is no surprise to hear that there is interest in bringing him back to England.

Arsenal and Liverpool are the teams connected to Alvarez prior to the summer transfer window with both clubs on the market for more firepower.

Cerezo, however, has made it clear that Atletico is not going to cash in the Argentina star, only 12 months after he splashed mega money to bring him to Madrid.

“Julian Alvarez is a player of Atletico Madrid and will be a player of Atletico Madrid,” he told Marca on Monday evening.

It is still to see whether Arsenal or Liverpool will test that attitude with an official approach for Alvarez in the coming weeks, although both have other no. 9 goals.

The same publication reported interest of the two clubs last month. Arsenal was called the 'strongest bidders', where the Gunners desperately sign an elite striker while she asked to finally end their long waiting time for a domestic title.

It was also noted that Alvarez herself had 'reservations' to return to the Premier League, despite his success in Manchester City, where his departure division split opinions.

If Alvarez is out of reach, then Arsenal's search for a new striker seems to turn around Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, who are both long -term goals and apparently ready to leave their respective clubs this summer.

Liverpool is now connected to Hugo Ekitike, the sought after Eintracht Frankfurt Vooruit. They will probably be confronted with competition from Chelsea if they follow a deal for the Frenchman, however, with the blues who also wanted to pick up the 22-year-old, despite their upcoming conquest of Liam Delap from the city of Ipswich.

The Reds are expected to sell Darwin Nunez to finance a movement for a new striker with the club that also strives for a potential record contract for the Bayer Leverkusen who attack midfielder, Florian Wirtz.
