Sean O’Malley reveals retirement timeline ahead of UFC 316 rematch with Merab Dvalishvili

Sean O'Malley shared his pension plans prior to UFC 316.

This weekend in Newark, New Jersey, the former UFC Bantamweight Champion is in a different main event against Merab Dvalishvili.

It was DvalishVili who declined O'Malley on UFC 306 last September and his title made a unanimous decision.

After a successful operation at his torn Labrum, Sean O'Malley is self -confident as always in his title Rematch with Dvalishvili on UFC 316.

With a victory on Saturday, O'Malley is looking forward to the future, whether that is a trilogy with Dvalishvili or Vecht against top candidates.

Speaking of the future, how long is O'Malley still in the fighting game?

Sean O'Malley says he wants to retire on 37 or 38

O'Malley, 30, celebrated his 10th birthday this year as Pro MMA hunter.

A UFC hunter since 22, O'Malley believes that he could see himself fighting for 7-8 years.

“I want to fight until I am 37, 38,” O'Malley told ESPN MMA.

“I will fight as long as my body lasts,” O'Malley continued.

“To be the case, I have to take recovery as seriously as I follow training, and I do that, and I think it will bear fruit.

“I am 30 now. I think I have a few good years in me,” said O'Malley.

Sean O'Malley admits that he should not have taken Merab Dvalishvili fight on UFC 306

O'Malley did not have the best conditions to prepare to fight UFC 306 the first time to combat DvalishVili.

Far from 100% because of his torn labbumm injury, O'Malley says that the headlining of the ball of billion dollars was an offer that he could not refuse at that time.

“I was proud of my performance, considering how I felt to use the fight,” O'Malley thought about his first fight with Dvalishvili.

“I don't want any apologies. It wasn't a great camp, but it was a good camp for what I could do. I was, I didn't want to recover. I underestimate the skill of Merab. I know how good he is. I just believed so much in myself …

“So looking back, yes, I probably shouldn't have accepted the fight,” O'Malley admitted.

“I tore my Labrum, my hip ten weeks before the fight. Eight weeks before the fight, Hunter called me and said,” Hey, you have the atmosphere … “And I had something like that, I'm not going to reject that.”

O'Malley says he had a feeling that he would lose to Dvalishvili on UFC 306 when a dead owl appeared in his driveway for 10 days of their fight.
