Barcelona signed one star this summer, but it was a player who was already more than familiar with where he was going. The Blaugrana spent €55 million on Dani Olmo to bring him back from RB Leipzig, which was a significant change for the Catalan midfielder.
Fresh off Euro 2024, where his fingerprints were all over Spain's victory in Germany, Olmo was Barcelona's only major signing this summer. According to Catalunya Radio, Olmo is happy to be back at Barcelona, but if there's one thing he doesn't like about his return home, it's the familiarity.
Hailing from Dinamo Zagreb and then RB Leipzig, Olmo was able to live a relatively quiet life in both Croatia and Germany, but simple things like going to the supermarket or eating out are now much more difficult for him in Barcelona.
Olmo grew up in Terrassa, a town on the outskirts of Barcelona, where Xavi Hernandez is also from. He returned to Terrassa every summer to see his family for a while, and did so with relatively little fuss, but his status as a Barcelona star and one of the stars of the national team has changed.
