Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro is open on manager Ange Postecoglou and the rumors about his future.
Postecoglou insists that he intends to plan the future with Spurs, despite claims that Daniel Levy has decided to dismiss him in favor of Brentford -Baas Thomas Frank. The Australian and finally a trophy brought after 17 years of waiting, but also a 17th place in the Premier League that does not help his claim as a head coach.
In an interview with The Guardian, Porro revealed that club football is not currently in mind while preparing for the semi -final of the Nations League against the Netherlands.
“I am not thinking about club football because I am here with Spain and we have two important games this week, but he would continue to be good for the dressing room,” Porro said.
“He has built a very good group and coaches also need time. Things did not go well in the competition, but he let you win a trophy. That is also important.
“The people in the dressing room with weight must understand that, but as I say, I am now thinking of the national team; that will be time for that.”
Porro was asked if he meant that some players did not understand that, and he explained that the rumors that Postecoglou upset him, because many of the team believe that he can lead the side forward, especially after reaching European glory in his second season, just as he said he would do that.
“No, that's just that. We are inside and we know more or less how things are, don't you?
“I'm not going to lie, it influenced me to see (people say) that they would fire him to be honest,” said the Spaniard.
“I am very close to him. He has been an important coach for me and it is thanks to him that I released my (best) football these two years.
“It is complicated because in football in general is not always dependent on you, but to be honest, I think in the team – in my opinion – we are happy with him.”
