Manchester City will take their 2025 expenditure up to more than £ 225 million with the conquest of AC Milan's Tijjani Reijnders, who will sign a five -year -old deal after completing his medical
Tijjani Reijnders is determined the next part of the rebuilding of Manchester City after they had agreed a £ 46 million deal with AC Milan. Reijnders, 26, will put Pen on paper with a five -year contract and earn him around £ 200,000 a week.
The midfielder is ready to become City's first signing of the summer transfer window and to take their total expenditure in 2025 beyond the £ 225 million. Pep Guardiola welcomed four newcomers in January, an indication that he would like to renew the team after signing a two -year contract extension.
Reijnders, who came to Milan from AZ Alkmaar in 2023, was the radiant light in disappointing campaign for the Italian giants, who won Serie A -Midfielder of the season and produced an excellent version against Real Madrid in the Champions League who saw him praise. Two years after rejecting Barcelona, the Dutchman agreed to sign for City, who hope to complete the signing before their Club World Cup campaign starts on Wednesday 18 June.
Guardiola addressed him as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who is in conversation to become a member of Napoli. Reijnders will undergo a medical medical next week, because he currently has an international service for the Netherlands, who are confronted with Finland and Malta to get their qualifying campaign from World Cup.
Etihad leaders are also in conversation with Wolves to sign left Rayan Ait-Nouri. The 23-year-old Algeria International started the last year of his contract in Molineux and all parties expected the move to happen.
City wants to use the Club World Cup in the United States to go back to winning ways after ending a first trophy-less season since the 2016-17 campaign, the first of Guardiola. They will be confronted with Morrocan -outfit Wydad Casablance, Al Ain van de VAE and the Serie A Heavyweights Juventus in the group phase.
Reijnders has not yet spoken with Guardiola and told Voetbal International earlier this week: “The Premier League is of course a great competition, that is what you dream of as a little boy. I haven't had contact with Guardiola yet, that is not yet on the agenda.”

The playmaker is described as 'super complete' by Dutch manager Ronald Koeman, while Milan and Holland legend Frank Rijkaard is a big fan. “I hope Reijnders will be one of the best midfielders in the world, but I sincerely believe that he is already on the right track,” Rijkaard told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
“I really like his way of playing. He becomes increasingly important for Milan as time passes. He can take all roles in the middle of the field and he is really generous.
“He never stops running for the team and always gives everything he is. With the quality he has, he is really good at creating dangerous opportunities for his teammates and the move always starts well.”
Barcelona wanted to sign Reijnders as a replacement for Sergio Busquets in 2023, but his father convinced him to join Milan. “I advised my son to refuse Barcelona,” Martin Reijnders revealed, speaking with the Dutch outlet general newspaper.
“He could have been a reserve there and running the risk of failure like many others for him. There were also requests from English clubs, but I only spoke with them through intermediaries. I only had direct contact with Barcelona and spoke with the director, Deco. I had to check his profile photo to see him.
“Of course we were satisfied with the interest of Barcelona, but they were looking for a replacement for busquets and I immediately told my son that he is not that type of player. He did not have the characteristics they wanted, and before he knew it, he would have ended up on the couch.”
