UFC-Superster Conor McGregor's long-awaited return to the Octagon on UFC 303 against Michael Chandler was demolished only a few weeks after the fight was announced.
McGregor and Chandler would start on 3 June 2024 with a worldwide media tour in Dublin, Ireland before UFC 303. But only a few hours before the Dublin press conference, the media event was abruptly canceled, originally for non -acquired reasons.
Rumors swirled quickly as speculation grew over the state of the McGregor vs. Chandler fight. Everything, from a rumor McGregor Stint in a rehabilitation facility, to McGregor that changed ideas when resuming his fighting career, appeared on social media after the press conference was canceled.

A few days after the cancellation of the bizarre Dublin press conference, UFC fans received some answers to why the media event was canceled. McGregor announced that he sustained an injury in the run -up to UFC 303 that forced him from the map.
Later it was revealed that McGregor's Pinkie was broken during his Vechtkamp while preparing the Chandler fight. Although it was not a serious injury to a long -term absence, it was serious enough to scratch the UFC plans for UFC 303.
McGregor promised that he had resumed the training as soon as he had been completely cleared to return after the toe injury, but a year later his fighting career remains in a holding pattern. McGregor has not appeared in the Octagon since he injured his leg against Dustin Poirier in their UFC 264 trilogy.
The UFC 303 headliner eventually became a short rematch between the then light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira and former title holder Jiri Procazka. Chandler later returned against Charles Oliveira on UFC 309 in 2024 and lost a unanimous decision.
Earlier this year, McGregor was briefly linked to a boxing match with Logan Paul before the UFC buyer is said to have been crushed. At the moment McGregor remains under contract with the promotion, but a timeline for a potential comeback fight remains a mystery.
Despite the repeated stalls of the McGregor vs. Chandler Showdown, Chandler suggested a new goal date for McGregor to return to the Octagon to arrange their unfinished company.

In a recent message about Threads, Chandler called for a fight date of January 24, 2026 for him and McGregor to meet each other in the Octagon. At the moment McGregor has not responded to Chandler's proposal.
Chandler wants to return to the win column in April in April after a recent loss for Paddy Pimblett on UFC 314. The former Bellator title holder is 2-5 in his UFC official period.
With regard to McGregor, UFC CEO Dana White recently warned Fight fans not to expect the return of the Irish star to the cage soon. But in the meantime tensions remain thick between the two coaches of the Ultimate Fighter 31.
