Spain International and Barcelona midfielder Gavi (20) has closed rumors that connect him with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, and explains in a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo that he sees his future alone at the Catalan club.
The 20-year-old, currently with Spain prior to the semi-final collision of Thursday UEFA Nations League against France, returned this season from a long-term ACL injury to make 42 performances in all competitions, to score three goals and offer three assists.
Despite a more limited role after his recovery, speculation around a possible departure – and in particular a switch to PSG – existed. The Parisians have long admired the young midfielder, who is known as close to their head coach Luis Enrique. It was Enrique, when Spain Boss, who handed Gavi his senior international debut in October 2021 at just 16 years old.
The Barça Youth product confirmed his loyalty to the Blaugrana in an interview with Mundo Deportivo: “Yes, it is completely clear. People believe what they read in the media … I understand why people think it is possible. But it is not going to happen.
After extending his contract until 2030 earlier this year, Gavi underlined his ambition to succeed with his boys' club. “It is the club of my life, the one I want to succeed. I don't want another, and I give everything I have to let happen.” GFFN | George Boxall
