Many people associated with Barcelona were happy to see that Paris Saint-Germain won the Champions League last weekend, since this meant that Luis Enrique won the competition for the second time later with the Catalan club.
And among those to be satisfied, Gavi, who praised his former national team manager when he spoke with the media prior to the semi-final of the Spain UEFA Nations League against France, according to MD.
“For me he is the best. He is a number one, an excellent manager, both he and his staff. I am very happy for him. He was the one who gave me my debut in the national team, against the European champions, Italy, at San Siro.
Gavi was also asked about reports that Luis Enrique would like to be reunited with him at club level, where PSG has a strong interest in the 20-year-old. However, his reaction was clear – and it will surprise Barcelona supporters.
“It can be (that PSG is interested). And I understand people who may believe it. But it is not going to happen. I am very calm. My dream and my mentality is to spend my entire career in Barcelona. It is the club of my life and where I want to succeed. I don't want anyone else, and I give everything in my power to make it.”
The 2024-25 season was not easy for Gavi, who had difficulty ordering a regular starting place after returning a long-term ACL injury. But despite this, he is clear that continuing in Barcelona is the only option he regards, which is completely understandable.
