Didier Deschamps is of the opinion that this week's letters of the Nations League should not have an influence on the Ballon d'Or, saying that Ousmane Dembele has already done enough to win the prize.
The France team of Deschamps will be confronted on Thursday with Spain in the Nations League semi-finals, with many spectators who believe that the match could have Ballon d'Or
During Wednesday's press conference, Spain boss Luis de la Fuente said that Lamine Yamal, Fabian Ruiz and Pedri all earn it to compete for the prize.
But Deschamps believes that leading Paris Saint-Germain to a trophies in the Champions League, Ligue 1 and Coupe de France should be enough for Dembele.
“Of course I am at Ousmane! These things amuses the media, I don't have them in mind,” said Deschamps on Wednesday.
“The Nations League can also give some answers, including the club of Club.
“If I had to choose, I would say Ousmane without a reservation. He can win this last four or not, but with his season he deserves it.”
Dembele scored 33 goals and gave 13 assists for PSG in 2024-25. Among all players from Europe's top five competitions, only Mohamed Salah (57), Raphinha (56), Harry Kane (49) and Kylian Mbappe (48) improved Dembele's 46 total target intervention.
He registered 14 of those target statements in the Champions League, scored eight and assisted six. That is the second most target contributions from a French player in a single edition of the competition, after Karim Benzema in 2021-22 (17).
Dembele was split into the last one 5-0 victory over Desire Done, who became the first player to take three target statements at a showpiece of Champions League (two goals, one assist).
Deschamps refused to make comparisons between Doue and Spain star Yamal and said: “Yamal is in Barca and is younger than desire.
“Desire has ended the season very well and has left his mark in the Champions League. He has set his head very well and it is his merit to be here.”

Deschamps does not believe that the PSG attackers have some problem playing Mbappe for their national team, saying: “Mbappe improved a lot during the season and is now in very good condition.
“He is going to play and be very focused, but they can exchange positions in attacks.”
