Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes gets brutal response after snubbing Saudi transfer

Ivan Toney has wondered if Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes even saw 'The Saudi Pro League' after a huge offer to join Al-Hilal this summer

Bruno Fernandes has been told that he had completely wrong the Saudi Pro League after he declared that he rejected a move to the middle -east because he wants to continue playing at an elite level.

That is the verdict of Ivan Toney, who was asked about Fernandes' decision to stay in Manchester United. Toney, 29, moved to Saudi Arabia last summer to join Al-Ahli from Brentford in a transfer deal with a value of £ 40 million despite interest from other clubs in the Premier League.

After having looted 30 goals in 44 games for Al-Ahli, Toney got a surprise back to the English team by Thomas Tuchel prior to the upcoming matches against Andorra and Senegal.

And the former bees -striker has wondered if Fernandes even saw 'the competition' after he has been asked about the comments from the Portugal star about the move.

“That is his decision. He may think it is different for me,” Toney said during an interview with Talksport, discussing Fernandes' decision to stay with Old Trafford.

“He has clearly not seen the competition. De Standaard is high. I always say this, people always judge it, you know? And you have to see it firsthand to have your own opinion. If people went there and go to some games, they would quickly realize.

“I know it's a good standard. You would never hit it once you've been there. It's hard.”

Earlier this week Fernandes revealed that he decided to reject a lucrative proposal from Al-Hilal after he had considered things with his wife.

“It was a very ambitious proposal,” Fernandes said during a press conference prior to the Portugal's meeting with Germany. “The president was a fantastic person. We never discussed the amount [initially]. With my agent? Naturally. Then I spoke with my wife and family and she asked me what my personal goals were in my career. She was someone who always supported me a lot.

“It was an easy move, even at family level. I had Joao Canneo there, my children are used to playing with him in the national team, we have a great friendship.

“But I want to keep myself at the highest level, play in the big competitions, and I feel able to.”
