Man City boss Pep Guardiola is ready to exclude Jack Grealish from his club World Cup team on the way to the United States this summer and the English star can be forced to assess his options
The future of Jack Grealish in Manchester City seems to be increasingly insecure with the club that leaves him out of their team for the club World Cup this summer. The International of England has had a difficult burden with the city for two years from the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
The wing player – who came to City in 2021 for £ 100 million and is still the most expensive British signature ever – played a major role in helping the club to win the Treble in 2023, but Jeremy Doku is now the preferred option of Guardiola on the left flank. Guardiola admitted that Grealishe needed more playing time after their last game of the season, a 2-0 victory at Fulham, but said it was a question for the club about what will happen with regard to his future.
“Of course Jack has to play. He is an incredible player who has to play football every three days,” said the Spaniard. “It didn't happen this season and last season either. He has to do it, and that is with us, or another place. And that is a question for Jack, his agent and the club.”
Guardiola exclusively him from his group to travel to the United States is particularly damn and now Grealisk can be forced to assess his options, although a movement will be difficult in the midst of his £ 300,000 a week's salary.
Mirror Football has taken a look at five possible destinations for Grealishe, while he wants to get his career back on the right track this summer.
Tottenham
Spurs were strongly connected to Grealisk for his move to City when he was in Aston Villa and made a failed £ 25 million for the player in 2018 – back when he played in the championship.
Seven years later, Grealisk has become a completely different player after winning three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
Spurs will be looking for next season after winning the Europa League and are one of the clubs that can offer the Player Champions League football. Ange Postecoglou – if he avoids the bag – may like a player like Grealisk who can run to defenders with pace and flair.
Tottenham needs a new left wing player after Timo Werner's two-year loan spell has ended, in the meantime it is unclear whether the club will extend their loan for Mathys Tel and son Heung-Min the last month of his contract.
Grealishe can also play centrally, which would offer back -up at number 10 to cover James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, both of which have struggled lately with injuries.
Aston Villa returns?
This can be a movement for the football romantics, but there is no doubt that Villa still has a special place in the heart of Grealisheh after he started his career at the club as a six-year-old.
He played 213 times for his boys' club, with his debut season in 2013-14 before he suffered relegation and helped them return to the top flight in 2018-19.
Villa raised a transfer costs of £ 100 million when he left for the city at the end of the 2020-21 campaign and although it is unlikely that the club could afford to buy it permanently, a loan deal can be feasible.
There is perhaps a place for Grealisk in the team, especially in view of the fact that Marcus Rashford probably doesn't look like to return to Villa Park after his own loan spell and Grealishe can be a good replacement.
In addition to Rashford, Morgan Rogers seems to be the only inexorable player on the wing and he can play on the right. Grealish should compete differently with people like Leon Bailey and Jacob Ramsey for a lock at the left wing.
Everton
Working with David Moyes is perhaps an attractive prospect for Grealish, while he also knows that he should be a starting role due to the lack of quality options of Everton on the wing.
Iliman Ndiaye performed well on the left flank for the Toffees in the 2024-25 season and scored 11 times in all competitions, but Moyes will need more depth and better competition as Everton approaches an exciting season in their new stadium.
Moyes will also like to add to his options, with Jack Harrison's Leen Spell that is set, while offering to ensure that the Toffees do not pass any other relegation struggle.
David Ornstein of the Athletic claimed that Everton was “an interesting possibility” because they needed new signing sessions during the season in the new stadium – while the location would also fit Graalis.
He said: “Everton is an interesting opportunity in my mind, especially because they need players, on their way to a great new stadium and that would keep him close to home in the northwest.”
Go to Saudi
Saudi Pro League clubs have always focused on the greatest talent that the Premier League has to offer and after failure in a movement for both Bruno Fernandes and Mohamed Salah, Grealisk is perhaps the next on their radar.
The competition has already succeeded in luring Ivan Toney to the middle and can now be sure that they can do the same for another English international in Grealish.
It is assumed that the success of Toney with Al-Ahli de Saudi competition has given a huge PR lift after he was previously only seen as a competition where players go to lucrative contracts.
But after Toney had received an English call from Thomas Tuchel, Chiefs were convinced that the profile of their competition is increasing.
Last month, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claimed that Grealisk was indeed on the radar of Saudi officials, who are “considering” a movement for the city wing.
He tweeted: “Saudi Pro League clubs are planning to make large movements again in the summer window with approaches considering players such as Bruno Fernandes, Jack Grealish and Victor Osimhen.”
Vecht for place in the city
Despite all the speculation that Grealish could be forced to look for meadows, there is also every chance that he can be forced to sit and fight for his place in the Etihad.
Grealisk still has a contract until 2027 and many clubs can be dropped off in the city.
The club could supplement its wages if they want to send him on loan and the player will be reluctant to take a wage reduction by going somewhere else.
Grealisk got a handful of opportunities last season. He managed to score 32 performances in all competitions and scored three times – although only 16 of those trips came as start.
Sky Sports claimed that Grealisk may have trouble finding a club because of his transfer costs and contract, which means that he might have to wait until the end of the window – possibly even until a deadline day – to find a new club.
If a deal becomes too complex to pull out, Grealisk may have no choice but to stay where he is and fight for playing time.
