How Chelsea’s Delap can reinvigorate Palmer in Blues masterplan

Chelsea is ready to rock and roll thanks to Liam and Cole.

Blues 'Brothers' Liam Delap and Cole Palmer were made in Manchester, at the Academy of City, but are reunited on Stamford Bridge.

And £ 30 million Delap, which last season yielded 12 Premier League goals for degraded Ipswich, is the perfect striker for the Enzo Maresca master plan.

He can breathe new life into Palmer – and if this couple starts shooting, opposition distributions must build a Wonderwall to stop them.

They will even stand next to shirt numbers- Delap has taken No9 and Palmer is now NO10.

Palmer is delighted Delap has chosen to become a member of the blues.

He said: 'I am excited to play with him. I was sent to him and asked if he would come and that.

“I played with him under the age of 18, 21s. We went to the first team together.

“He is a great striker, one of the best in the Premier League. You can see last season.

“So I think he will help us a lot and hopefully score many goals.”

When the Blues Palmer, 23, signed for £ 42.5 million, in what now looks like a cut deal, did not know much the talent they had in their hands – but everyone who had seen City's youth sides knew, including the former academic coach Maresca of the club.

Delap, 22, can play a crucial role for the blues – he is electric with his pace, direct running and movement.

Together with 'Secret Agent' Romeo Lavia and Palmer in the youth team under Maresca, he played his understanding in which the last potential will make such a powerful threat next season.

But it will also improve Palmer, which was coordinated last season, despite the fact that he has delivered 15 Prem objectives.

It may seem like it's half the world gone, but in one city game under 21 against Spurs, they walked 6-1 winners with Delap who hit a hat trick, Palmer scored twice and Lavia watches the other.

Delap and Palmer were not always a partnership Harry Kane and son Heung – minute, in which both huge target contribution would yield – although that happened enough.

It was more about the movement and interplay of Delap, so Palmer could be even more dangerous and entered the box with more ease.

This season we have seen in competitions that, because Palmer has sometimes been a lonely threat, he can be doubled and canceled – but with Delap in the side that becomes much more difficult.

In the youth team of the city, Palmer, Felix Nmecha and Samuel Edozie benefited from Delap's movement, because he would occupy the middle back and allow Nmecha and Palmer to get shots in the box.

In Manchester, Maresca knew how to get the best out of the Delap by giving him the same kind of freedom that Nicolas Jackson was given in front, because he could float wide or deeply fall on the starting point that he would be in the right place when needed to be in the right place at the right time to get the last touch.

When you add the incoming Estevao Willian to that mix, as well as the ever -reinforced Noni Madueke and Enzo Fernandez – some can say that they will not stop.

It will be interesting to see how the blues go in the Club World Cup in America, which will hardly be an oasis of calmness.

They will hope that Liam and Cole are more successful in the US than Liam and Noel.
