The curious case of Portuguese talent Cardoso Varela continues – but will do this in Catalonia. The Blaugrana is said to have closed a deal for the 16-year-old, who is currently putting his profession for Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.
According to Sportske Novosti (via Croatian Footy), that says that Barcelona will activate a clause of € 5 million for the first refusal about the rights of Varela. It is not immediately clear whether they would still have to pay a fee, but they say that the deal could rise to € 10 million costs for Barcelona including variables.
Varela now remains in Dinamo for the coming season, before he probably moves to Barcelona the following season, where he takes place for an important role in the team. There was a negotiation between Barcelona Director of Football Deco and President Zvonimir Boban.
The Young Starlet contract is also a stranger. SN explains that it is distributed between 57% for Dinamo and 43% for his agents and his family. It means that this first refusal, or the activated clause, would see around € 2.7 million of the initial compensation, and his agents and family € 2.3 million. Varela is represented by Andy Bara, who is part of the same agency as Juanma Lopez, which represents Dani Olmo and Target Joan Garcia.
Varela's route to Dinamo is certainly a strange one. Porto took Varela and then agent Faustino Gomes to FIFA about an assumed € 3 million requirement to stay in the club. He then appeared in Dinamo Odranski Obrez.
