Pep Guardiola says that he would like to take on the challenge of international management, but is not going to leave Manchester City soon.
Guardiola won 39 trophies as manager of the first team during his 17 years and won silverware with all three of his clubs, including three Champions League titles.
In City he lifted 15, including a Treble in 2022-23, when they won the Premier League, FA Cup and a Maiden Champions League.
Guardiola, who made 47 performances for Spain as a player, has never been involved in international management. However, he was associated with such a movement in the first half of 2024-25 before signing a two-year deal.
“I would like to be in a World Cup, in a euro, a Copa America,” Guardiola told Reuters.
“I have always thought about it. But it depends on many, many things. If it happens, it's fine. If it doesn't happen, it's also more than fine.”
Last season, however, was seen as an under -performance for the city because they won none of the four major trophies that were offered.
They ended the Premier League campaign 13 points behind Liverpool, which ran away with the title by securing it in April, while they were defeated in the FA Cup final by Crystal Palace and from the Champions League and ELL Cup, respectively, threw Real Madrid and Tottenham.
Despite the victory against Fulham on the last day, Guardiola saw his team finish the second time in his 16 seasons outside the top two (third) as a top manager, together with the Premier League campaign 2016-17 (also third).

City was criticized for their struggles in 2024-25, but Guardiola is determined to start fresh next season, but not with the goal “to prove the haters incorrectly”.
“It is to prove myself that I can do it, I don't want the feeling that last season has the feeling,” he added.
“Because when we win, the wine tastes better afterwards, you sleep. I don't know a manager who loses and sleeps games like a baby. It doesn't happen. You have to worry. That belongs to our lives.”
One of the most important goals of City for the coming season is to win a second Champions League title.
Their first came in 2023 with a 1-0 win over Inter, only two years after they were defeated by Chelsea in the showpiece.
Although the task can be a big question, Guardiola acknowledges that even athletes at the top of their game do not win everything that is offered.
“I have won 12 domestic competitions in 16 years. It is not bad, I would say. But you can't always win. I can't always win the Champions League,” he said.
“Michael Jordan, the best athlete I have ever seen in my life, won six NBA championships in 15 years. Tiger Woods, an incredible golfer, Jack Nicklaus, I don't know how much he has. But they lost more Grand Slams than they have won. It happens.”
