Luis Diaz ‘happy’ at Liverpool but admits ‘talking with other clubs’ amid Barcelona interest

After both Barcelona and Liverpool have set their position over a deal, Colombian winger Luis Diaz made his position in a potential move to Catalonia clear. Diaz is a priority goal for the Blaugrana, and Saudi-Arabian side Al-Nassr have also been chased to the 28-year-old.

Last week, Barcelona director of Football Deco spoke with months of reports that they want Diaz as their top goal, and called him 'a player we like' and noted that he was a 'good player' in two separate interviews. In the meantime, Liverpool probably became 'confusing' due to the flurry of stories that came from the Catalan capital. On Thursday morning it was leaked that Liverpool had rejected an approach from Barcelona for Diaz.

Only a few hours later Diaz responded to the stories about his future. Currently with the Colombian national team, Diaz told Fabrizio Romano that he was happy in Liverpool, but also talked to other clubs.

“I am very happy in Liverpool. They have treated me well since the first day. We are talking to other clubs. It is the transfer window, it is normal. If Liverpool extends my contract, or if I have to stay the 2 years I have left, I will be happy. It is up to them.”

In addition to their clear interest, the word that comes from Catalonia is that they believe that they can close a deal with Liverpool for around € 70 million. Despite their rejection of Barcelona's approach, the Catalan giants are not impressed by the messages that come on their side and believe that it is a negotiating tactics. They will undoubtedly see the recognition of Diaz as a nod to their attempts and encouragement to continue.

Marcus Rashford seems to be the most important alternative to Diaz. If the deal becomes too expensive or impossible for Diaz, they will probably go to the Manchester United. Kingsley Coman by Bayern Munich and Gabriel Martinelli from Arsenal are also on their shortlist.
