Manchester United is looking for a new striker this summer and they reportedly had the opportunity to sign Paris Saint-Germain Vooruit Goncalo Ramos
Manchester United is reportedly interested in Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos and club captain Bruno Fernandes believes that he would be a success at Old Trafford. United is watching their team strengthening this summer while they want to jump back from their worst ever Premier League campaign.
Goals were a special problem in front of Ruben Amorim, with strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee who only seven league goals in between. United has already announced the signing of Matheus Cunha van Wolves, while they are also talking to Brentford about a movement for Bryan Mbeumo.
And according to the Daily Mail, United also had the opportunity to sign Ramos after he has missed Liam Delap. Ramos was largely used from the bank this season, whereby Ousmane Dembele changed to a center-forward through Luis Enrique.
The report states that PSG Ramos regards as a surplus of requirements and that he 'appeals to the Hierarchy of United' because he is only 23 years old. And Fernandes, who is teammates with Ramos for Portugal, believes that the striker is well suited for English football.
“Goncalo has all the conditions to play in the Premier League,” Fernandes said in 2023. “He is very intense, presses very well and is very good in the area. He is strong physically, he is still young, he will get better.
“If you continue to work as you did, I think you have the potential to be one of the best spearheads in the world, but he still has to go to a more competitive competition to demonstrate it. The best always works here, whether it is Goncalo or another player.
“I think he has all the qualities to play in the Premier League, and when I say in the Premier League, I also say Manchester United, but it is not yet in my hands to be sports director. If I am, I will make these decisions.”
The news comes after Fernandes announced that he is planning to stay in United after he has rejected a lucrative offer from the Saudi -Pro League. Al-Hilal was ready to pay United £ 100 million and useful Fernandes a three-year deal worth £ 700,000 a week.
However, the midfielder finally decided against the move after conversations with his family. “I spoke with my family to understand if that was what I wanted for my future,” Fernandes revealed.
“It was actually my wife who asked me – I never said yes or no. She took my professional priorities for everything else. It would have been an easy step. I had Ruben Neves and Joao Annalo, two people with whom I have a great friendship.
“But I want to stay at the highest level, play in large competitions, because I still feel capable of. I want to keep being happy, I am still very passionate about this sport and I am happy with my decision.”
