Barcelona is at the table again this summer with the calculator, while they make their way through the limitations of the salary limit. It has been some time since they brought in a lot of money through a sale, with the closest to € 50 million for Ousmane Dembele two summers ago.
It looked like they were to be set this summer for some income through the sale. Halfway through the season it seemed that Frenkie de Jong was destined to leave the club with a year about his contract. Even with his contract renewal, Ronald Araujo also seemed to leave, with a reported release clause of € 65 million that opened the door to a movement. Yet both look like they stay.
According to El Chiringuito, Chelsea is willing to spend great on one of those stars. Sport quotes their report and says that Chelsea has made an offer of € 75 million for Fermin Lopez. The attacking midfielder, who was largely behind Dani Olmo in the selections of Hansi Flick, scored eight goals and gave 11 assists in his 46 performances this season. Inter has also been linked to him in recent months.
It seems unlikely that Lopez would consider leaving Barcelona at the moment. The 22-year-old recently signed a long-term contract that he was to the club until 2029. In statements to RAC1 in the past week, Lopez also confirmed his dedication to the Blaugrana.
“I am not going to leave. I am very happy at Barca. It was my dream and I want to stay there.”
In the meantime, it will be another season of fierce competition in Barcelona. Olmo and Lopez will continue to compete for the number 10 place, with Gavi also in the mix. If the Blaugrana Signing Priority goal Luis Diaz manage, the suggestion is that Raphinha could also spend more time in that position, something that Lopez would leave with fewer opportunities to play.
