Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has signed a new contract that will hold him in the club until 2029.
The 27-year-old had been under contract until 2027, although Mikel Arteta clearly wanted to underline his interest for the team.
He has been an important player for the club since he came to Lille in 2020, after he had made 210 performances in all competitions.
Since 2022, Gabriel has entered into a strong partnership with William Saliba, with both a threat to Set-Piece-Since he comes to the club Gabriel has scored 17 league goals.
Gabriel has actually scored the most goals, most headers (12) and played in the most clean sheets (57) of all Premier League defenders since his debut.
“I arrived here as a young player and after almost five years I am so happy and I learned a lot,” said Gabriel, as quoted by BBC Sport.
“I am so proud of myself, it is a great journey, and I am so happy to continue it. I hope I win some trophies with this club, because I love this club and my family also loves the club.
“Arsenal is a great club and I am so proud to sign a new contract. I love the supporters, my teammates, I love this stadium. I am so proud and thanked for all the support. We are going for the future together.”
The Brazilian missed the last two months of the season due to an injury, with his absence of the Arsenal campaign.
Without the defender, the Gunners fell away from the Premier League title race and they were eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final.
