England manager Thomas Tuchel has given his verdict on the controversial relocation of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.
The defender caused a stir under the Liverpool fan base when he revealed that he would leave the club for Spain, making him initially seemed as if he would leave for free after a stay of 20 years in his boys' club.
The side of Arne Slot, however, has reimbursed a mega £ 10 million from Madrid for Alexander-Arnold to come to them early and therefore play in the coming Club World Cup.
Before that, the 26-year-old joined his teammates from England in Catalonia while preparing for their third qualifying competition under Tuchel.
The Drie Lions face Andorra on Saturday before they went back to England to face Senegal in a friendly in the city.
Prior to the Blockbuster switch from Alexander-Arnold, Tuchel explained why he believes that the right back will perform well in Laliga.
“I think he needs what is needed to play for that club,” the German tactician told ITV Sport.
'First before [his] Excellent quality, self -awareness of his quality – I think Trent is very aware of what he really does, really good.
'And he can influence competitions with one or two actions decisively, with his crosses, with his passes, switch switches. So I can see that he has what is needed. '
Tuchel also noted that the Madrid shirt weighs heavily and begged fans to give Alexander-Arnold the time to adapt to the Spanish top flight.
The 51-year-old continued: 'You can never predict it, you can never underestimate the pressure and challenge with the shirt, club and the stadium.
“But let's give him a chance. It is a big challenge for him and it is exciting new times. Hopefully he will do it well. '
