Jadon Sancho is confronted with an uncertain future in the summer transfer window after the decision of Chelsea not to sign him permanently, forced Manchester United to confront their previous errors
Manchester United has had a serious problem after Chelsea refused to permanently sign Jadon Sancho, because he is not going to play for the club again. Sancho had appeared to permanently connect with the blues after the season on loan in West Londs, only for negotiations to break down.
Chelsea finally decided that they would rather pay a fee of £ 5 million than to continue signing the winger for £ 25 million. Sancho is paid around £ 300,000 a week by United and he and Chelsea could not have found a compromise on his wages, forcing a reconsideration for all parties.
United is desperate to sell their unwanted players in the summer transfer window to finance a rebuilding under Ruben Amorim. Sancho seemed to be the simplest deal, where Chelsea was set up with an obligation to buy the 25-year-old, only for the move to break down.
He has now become a member of the list of other unwanted players who have to find United buyers, including colleague -Lananese Marcus Rashford and Antony, and wild winger Alejandro Garnacho. Keeping Sancho for the 2025/26 campaign under Amorim is not a feasible option, whereby ESPN reports that he does not intend to put on the united shirt again.
His attitude corresponds to that of Amorim, who does not want him in his team when the next season starts. Sancho returned five goals and 10 assists in 42 performances in all Chelsea competitions, so that they help win the conference competition – a solid as a non -spectacular effort that will not help him to sell him.
The report states that there is preliminary interest in West Ham, although the wages of Sancho will be problematic. He has a year left on his contract with United, who are reluctant to buy the winger to fat the wheels of his exit.
Sancho has been a flop of considerable proportions since he was signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £ 73 million. He has only 12 goals and six assists in 83 games for United for four years and did not come close to matching the potential shown at Dortmund.
He was absolutely electric in Germany, where he led 40 goals and 47 assists in 118 performances for Dortmund, but has difficulty replicating that form in England. A potential move back to the Bundesliga was possible on the cards with Bayer Leverkusen, until the club hired Erik ten Hag as a manager to close that door.
Ten Hag dropped out with Sancho about his apparent lack of efforts to train in Carrington and it was the Dutchman who turned his loan to Dortmund in January 2024.
