UFC 317 loses main card fight that was almost guaranteed to end in a knockout

The Pay-per-View section of UFC 317 has taken a late blow.

The leading promotion of Mixed Martial Arts will organize the 2025 edition of UFC International Fight Week at the end of June, culminating UFC 317 in the T-Mobile Arena van Las Vegas.

Ilia Topuria vs. Charles Oliveira Headlines UFC 317, with the former champion of featherweight and former light weight Kingpin that collide for the soon to vacancies on 155 pounds.

A number of other remarkable names have been set to walk on the controversial line-up, but the matchup that is responsible for getting off things on PPV has collapsed.

Justin Tafa from UFC 317 fight against Jhonata Diniz

The UFC 317 -head card was planned to open with a heavyweight confrontation between Justin Tafa and Jhonata Diniz.

The couple has a combined 14 knockouts over 15 victories, which means that an annoying finish was probably in the store to start the UFC 317 ppv.

But the man who would have arrived with a KO rate of 100 percent has withdrawn from the International Vechtweek for a few weeks.

@Zaclikesmma of the 4OZ to Freedom Podcast was the first to report the news of Tafas, with the highly regarded Marcel Dorff who later confirmed it.

The kiwi will now have to wait longer before he gets the chance to bounce back from a brutal loss last time. Tafa was eliminated at UFC 312 in February in just 35 seconds by Tallison Teixeira.

Jhonata Diniz gets a replacement opponent after the withdrawal of Justin Tafa

Fortunately for Diniz, it seems that the promotion has already protected a replacement to keep it on the map of 28 June.

The Brazilian, who suffered his first career -the previous time -out of Marcin Tybura, is now expected to be confronted against newcomer Alvin Hines.

'Goozie' is unbeaten on 7-0, with six of his victories within a distance. The American recently participated under the LFA banner, where he stopped Billy Ray Valdez with a main kick in round three.

With that in mind, a knockout in the return of Diniz still seems likely, although the promotion may now choose to place another matchup such as the opening act of the UFC 317 -head card.
