Real Madrid suffered a fifth defeat of the season against Athletic Club on Wednesday evening and it was another dismal performance from Kylian Mbappé, who missed a second penalty in eight days at San Mames. Patience with the French attacker is quickly running out.
Not least from his teammates. Jude Bellingham did everything he could to get Los Blancos back into it in Bilbao, scored the equalizer and burst from his heart for the cause. He was given a late booking for dissent, another sign of his frustration.
This was also evident when Mbappe took on Dani Vivian on the left side of the penalty area but was taken off the ball for a goal kick. After that action, Bellingham was gesticulating furiously and apparently cursing, glancing accusingly back at the Frenchman.
It's only natural for tension to be high during matches, even between teammates, although Bellingham has a reputation for being incredibly demanding with his teammates. Again, this is not unusual for top players. These demands, both from themselves and from their teammates, can push them forward, but can also cause friction.
