PSG power past Atletico Madrid to fire Club World Cup message

Atletico Madrid started their FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a ruthless 4-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in Pasadena.

In the competition, PSG went on the back of a sensational season 2024/25 season under Luis Enrique's with four won trophies.

In addition to retaining their Ligue 1 title, the Parisians went to a very first UEFA Champions League trophy, via a 5-0 last victory over Inter Milan.

That momentum was transferred when they overpowered Diego Simeone on the Rose Bowl, while two goals in the first half did the damage and Atletico Madrid ended the game with ten men.

Spain International Fabian Ruiz got the ball rolling with a fresh finish of 20 meters by 19 minutes before Vitinha curled a brilliant long ranger at home to double the advantage before the break.

Atletico Madrid improved after the restart, where Julian Alvarez saw a goal excluded by VAR, while Simeone raged against a series of decisions that went against his team.

The searched circumstances in California were tough and Atletico Madrid had difficulty breaking down the European champions.

A frustrating collision was packed for Simeone via a late second booking for France International Clement Lenglet for different opinion when teen Sundy Mayulu hit a third goal and former Valencia attacker Lee King-in scored from the penalty spot.

With their most difficult game now, Simeone will still have faith in securing a round of 16 spot, in the next two group B games.

The next is a collision with MLS-side Seattle Sounders on 19 June in their home stadium with Lenglet in line to serve a ban from one game.

The last group match against Brazilian Giants Botafogo is back in Pasadena on June 23, where Los Rojiblancos will probably fight for second place in the group.
