Mbeumo transfer: Brentford forward accepts speculation amid MU and Spur interest

Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo says he “accepts” the speculation around his future in the midst of interest of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs has held initial discussions with Brentford about a deal for Mbeumo, which is more intrigued in a Spurs movement now that Thomas Frank has been appointed as head coach.

Manchester United is also interested in Mbeumo and had rejected an offer for him before Spurs started conversations to hire Frank. The offer consisted of a guaranteed £ 45 million plus £ 10 million in bonuses.

One source has told Sky Sports News that Mbeumo is still tending to Manchester United, which is expected to go back with a new offer for the Brentford Forward.

There is a feeling at Brentford that Mbeumo has earned the opportunity to move to a larger club this summer if they are satisfied, which is more than £ 60 million.

In an exclusive interview with Craig Slater from Sky Sports, Mbeumo said: “The (transfer speculation) is a bit new to me that I would say!

“I think it can be the life of a football player and you have to accept it.”

Mbeumo scored 20 Premier League goals in a Brentford side that ended 10th and narrowly missed European football.

“It has been my best season in the Premier League so far,” he added. “And even collectively, I think we played very good games. I think we had bad luck to chase the Europe spot, but I think it has been a fantastic season.”

Mbeumo gives a glowing assessment of Frank

The impressive season of Brentford led Spurs to hire Frank as their new head coach and Mbeumo expected the DANE to succeed in his new club.

“He did so much for me. He literally trusted me from the start,” said Mbeumo. “I think he has developed the team so well.

“He also developed me as a person and a player. So I can only wish him the very best, and I am sure he will do well.

“I think he knows everything. He is really smart. He knows where he wants to bring the team, how he wants to play. I think he has been fantastic for Brentford.

“I think he will of course have some time to adapt. [Champions League] Games, more expectations, as you said, but I am sure he will do well.

“He knows how to talk to people. He knows how to build a group. And that's why we played so well.”

Keith Andrews a main candidate to replace Frank

Brentford's set-piece coach Keith Andrews is one of the most important candidates that Frank replaces as head coach.

Andrews has been part of Frank's coaching staff since last year and is known in the club.

Brentford promoted from the inside that they needed a new head coach, with Frank's assistant to have been Dean Smith.

Andrews is one of the handful of names that Brentford seriously is considering, but no definitive decision has been made yet.

“They are big shoes to fill,” said Mbeumo. “I think, (Frank had) had a head coach for seven years. So it's going to change clearly, but let's look.”
