According to the Italian Outlet Corriere della Serra, Ruben Amorim's side are desperately looking for a replacement for Onana after a series of high -profile errors since he became a member.
The report adds that United is interested in goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi of Atalanta, 24, who is reportedly highly regarded by the powers that are at Old Trafford.
However, Carnesecchi will not be cheap. Atalanta is supposed to want a reimbursement of approximately € 40 million to even consider a sale.
The goalkeeper was the key to Atalanta last season, gave 45 goals and held 18 clean sheets in his 44 games in all games.
