After the defeat in the Champions League final against PSG, Inzaghi left Inter to accept an offer of Al -Hilal -but Calzada says it was not easy negotiation.
“It was a complicated negotiation process, but we are very happy because we have signed a world -class coach, one of the best in the world, with a proven success rate and who always got the best out of a team that was not necessarily full of great players,” he said Marca.
“He did not win the Champions League, but he reached the final twice in three years.”
Intaghi always first choice
Calzada also revealed: “What the process was delayed and complicated that he had to think about it, because he loved Inter, and especially the timing. With all due respect, he asked us to concentrate on the final of the Champions League, and then make a decision.
“However, it was not a long process. We were very clear that Simone Inzaghi was our first choice.
“What surprised me in a positive way was the level of coaches who offered their services to us and wanted to come to Al-Hilal, from whom we would have considered if we could not have secured Simone.”
