Southgate ‘applies for shock new job’ with England’s potential World Cup rivals

Gareth Southgate reportedly indicated that his intention to return to management with the former boss of England claimed to have applied for a national team role.

Southgate resigned last June as an English manager after their defeat through Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

His resignation had come after eight years who was in charge of the national team, where he was credited to turn the three lionfines.

Despite the fact that he would eventually end England to win a senior international men's tournament, Southgate led the national team to back-to-back European Championship Finals.

Southgate also led England to the World Semi -Final World Cup in 2018 – their best result since 1990 – before she lost in the last eight in France in 2022.

After leaving the role last year, Southgate said that he was 'open -minded' about opportunities, both in and out of football.

He could now be set up for a return to the game after he reportedly submits an application to become a manager of the National team of Poland.

Polish Outlet Proszlad Sportowy Onet reported that Southgate has submitted a request to the Polish football club and personally expressed the wish to take the lead.

However, the report claims that Southgate would have to halve more than his £ 5 million a year that he received as manager of England to take the lead.

President Cezary Kulesza of the Polish Football Association is said to have also spoken for an appointment of a Polish candidate, with Jan Urban, Jacek Magiera, Adam Nawałka and Jerzy Brezeczek mentioned as likely contenders.

Reports have all-time World Cup top goal scorer Miroslav Klose, Nenad Bjelica, Carlos Queiroz and Winfried Schafert, his other potential candidates.

Poland is looking for a manager after the resignation of Michal Probierz last week.

Probierz resigned in the midst of a public feud with all time leading goal scorer Robert Lewandowski, after he made the decision to rid the Barcelona for the captain.

Lewandowski announced his international pension 39 minutes after the news was made public and later accused Probierz of a betrayal.

Probierz confirmed his decision to resign as a manager after a loss of 2-1 through Finland in a World Cup qualification match last week, with reports Lewandowski can now turn his decision to leave the national team.

Poland is currently third in their World Cup qualifying group after three games on six points, a point behind group leaders Finland, who has played one more match.

Group favorites in the Netherlands are second in the table on six points, but have only played two games so far.
