‘Look at Nate Diaz’… Sean O’Malley’s coach not concerned by consecutive UFC losses

Back-to-back losses have pushed former champion Sean O'Malley from the UFC Bantamweight Title Picture.

It did not go on 7 June O'Malley's Way in the main event of the UFC 316 Pay-per-View.

In the Prudential Center of Newark, O'Malley was submitted by Merab Dvalishvili, who marked the second straight setback of the American against the Georgian striking.

After he has been lost in a more dominant way than the decision that he saw in 2024 from the Bantamweight Throne, 'Sugar' is back to the title with a potentially long way.

But when it comes to defeats and the impact they can have on O'Malley's star, his team is clearly not worried.

Coach Tim Welch says that UFC losses have no influence on Sean O'Malley's star

During a recent episode of his Red Hawk Recap -Podcast, O'Malley's coach Tim Welch thought about their failed outing in Newark earlier this month.

Although some have suggested that successive defeats have damaged the shares of O'Malley as one of the more remarkable names of the UFC, Welch does not think that that is true.

The trainer compared 'sugar' with Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal, both of whom have collected a number of losses in the UFC but kept their staring intact intact.

“Look at Nate Diaz, how big a star he is. How much losses does he have?” Welch said. “Jorge Masvidal, how much losses does he have? They are still just f huge draws. Huge stars.”

Sean O'Malley outlines his plan to return to UFC Gold

In the aftermath of his second loss against 'the machine', O'Malley advised by some to go to featherweight.

But the resident of Montana does not yet give up the hope of adding Dvalishvili to the profit column of his record.

“For me to earn another shot at Merab, I should not be denied,” said O'Malley in the Ariel Helwani show.

“I have to get in a row, win a lot of fights in a row and there is a world that happens. I know that I am able to defeat Merab, I also know that he is able to defeat me, and there will be some of me who always wants to get it. He is the only man who has defeated me.

“If I don't get it back, I will be happy with how it takes place. But there is a world where I cannot be denied and get back, but I am happy for him. Merab's f- On a crazy streak now and the greatest Bantamweight of all time.”

It is still too viewing who will start O'Malley's path to redemption, with names such as Umar Nurmagomedov and Deiveson Figueiredo is thrown in the MMA community.
