Former Premier League referee David Coote has been sued by the football club for reactions he made about ex-livepool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Coote was fired last December by Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) after a video on social media emerged in which he made denigrating comments about Klopp in July 2020.
One of the comments that are referred to to the nationality of the German, and the FA has now charged Coote for a “worsened infringement” of his rules.
The FA added that the 42-year-old would not experience any further action with regard to individual accusations of gambling misconduct, which he had always denied.
Coote was banished by UEFA in February from officializing in European competitions until June 30, 2026, after another video arose that he sniffed a white powder while he was in Germany for Euro 2024.
In January, Coote came out as gay in an interview with the Sun newspaper, because he had hidden his sexuality in referee during his career.
