Football -Superster Cristiano Ronaldo sent a signed Portugal sweater to US President Donald Trump. But there was a message in the gift that stood out.
Ronaldo's message of peace to Trump
In the midst of escalating conflict between both Israel and Iran and Israel and Palestine, Ronaldo sent the sweater with the message “Playing for peace”.
The symbolic gesture was supplied by the European Council President António Costa during the G7 top in Canada, just before Trump stormed after tensions about a joint explanation about the war. Trump posed for photos and held the sweater next to Costa.
Although it is unclear whether Ronaldo has written the message personally or simply signed, it is because Trump has increasingly been aggressive in his attitude, including public statements that suggest that the US can join Israel in military action.
The shirt and his message were in stark contrast to Trump's rhetoric and served as a rare intersection of sports diplomacy and geopolitics with high deployment.
