Former UFC champion Welterweight Kamaru Usman returned to the win -column in Atlanta.
It is almost four years since Usman Colby Covington defeated UFC 268 to capture the last successful defense of his dominant and long -term regime. Until Saturday's event in State Farm Arena had not won 'The Nigerian Nightmare' since then.
However, that changed on June 14, when Usman Joaquin Buckley defeated a vintage version at the UFC Atlanta Main Event.
After he has reminded the division of his presence, Usman is as champion after a second Stint. And to get there, the 38-year-old was told to stay away from a “crazy” competition.
Daniel Cormier tells Kamaru Usman to stay 'crazy' Sean Brady away
During a recent episode of his Good Guy/Bad Guy show next to Chael Sonnen, Daniel Cormier assessed what should come for 'The Nigerian Nightmare' na UFC Atlanta.
Although Usman has rejected a fight with Belal Muhammad, 'DC' actually sees that as his best option – especially if it means that it avoids a confrontation with Sean Brady.
“What I don't do is – I look at the top five or top three and go:” Which do I want? ”
“You don't want Sean Brady. Sean Brady is crazy and he is young,” Cormier added. “It would be if again fighting Joaquin Buckley.”
Brady is on an indictment in the division, with his recent victory over Leon Edwards in London who raises him to the number 2 spot at 170 pounds.
Kamaru Usman made clear what he wants afterwards
If Usman gets his wish, talking about fighting another competition will become void and invalid.
During his press conference after the fight in Atlanta, the former champion made his claim for the first shot for the one who appears as champion of Jack della Maddalena and the expected title fight of Islam Makhakev later this year.
“Absolutely (I want the next title shot),” said Usman. “I really had to use one skill tonight, and everyone knows that I can turn you off with my hands, but if you give me that, I will take it.
“Let's face it, I am the largest (name) in the division and this is about entertainment, the UFC is an entertainment company. You want to make the biggest fight, it will be (I against) the winner of (della Maddalena) vs. Islam.”
While both Usman and Makhacheve are under the same management banner and are on good conditions, 'the Nigerian nightmare' made the willingness to share the cage with the Dagestani Clear.
