Arsenal handed major blow as Arteta’s assistant is set to depart for top Serie A

Mikel Arteta will lose a crucial member of his back room staff, with the Italian side Parma approaching at the appointment of his assistant Carlos Cuesta.

Just 29, the Spaniard, who came to Arteta's Staff in 2020, will be the youngest Serie A -manager after Elio Loschi this century, who took over Triestina in 1939 at the age of 29, nine months and 20 days old.

His departure will come a big blow for the Gunners -Baas prior to what a decisive season in his career could be at the Emirates.

According to Fabrizio Romano, conversations between Arsenal and Parma are in the 'last phases'.

Cuesta helped to transform arteta to the Noord -Londers into title candidates after his arrival in 2020 after impressive stitches with Atletico Madrid and Juventus, where he worked as an assistant manager under 17 years old.

However, he is confronted with a tough task of making the fortunes of one side still loved for their 90-team-ply-littered 90-teams that ended 16th in the past term, only five points above the relegation zone.

In the meantime, Arteta is under pressure to deliver his first major trophy since he led the club to the FA Cup in his first few months as a manager in 2020.

Since then, the Gunners have improved enormously and established themselves as one of the best teams in Europe, but silverware has escaped them.

The club would like to invest in a new striker to help their efforts and is linked to the signing sessions of Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres.

But the declarations of intent from their likely title Rivals Liverpool and Manchester City will not have given fans hope to end their 22-year waiting time for a top flight title.
