Manchester United cannot offer European football to one of their attacking goals, but Rio Ferdinand still believes that an excellent candidate is waiting for an offer
Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand believes that Victor Osimhen is waiting for the club to go to the front of the queue for his signing. The Nigeria International spent on loan last season in Galatasaray, with parent club Napoli thought he was ready to cash in this summer.
The claims from Ferdinand are amidst suggestions that colleague -target Viktor Gyokeres would switch to a club in the Champions League. Gyokeres played under the united head coach Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP, where he still plays his club football, but a reunion may not be very easy.
Gyokees was also high on the Arsenal shopping list, where the Gunners decide between him and Benjamin Sesko. Now, according to reports in Germany, the side of Mikel Arteta has reached an agreement with Sesko – although they still have to pay RB Leipzig's appreciation of the Slovenian.
United has already strengthened their attacking ranks this summer with a dive of £ 62.5 million for Wolves' Matheus Cunha. Brentford -star Bryan Mbeumo is also linked, despite the fact that United -unlike colleague -freeders Spurs -is unable to offer Champions League football.
Osimhen, who scored 37 goals last season in 41 Galatasaray matches, has also been interesting for Saudi club Al Hilal. However, the 26-year-old is supposed to switch to a European club, and Ferdinand has made his position clear.
“No. 9, they already know who I want,” said Ferdinand on Rio Ferdinand presents United's options. “The comments know, the people know who I want, who I would get: Osimhen!
“It seems that he has already rejected Hilal … He has to wait for Man United. I don't know if Man United is going to come. That's the problem.”
Ferdinand suggested that he would be happy with Gyokeres in Old Trafford when Osimhen does not arrive. Juventus is also linked to the Swede, who shot sporty on the Primeira Liga title last season, but Arsenal is supposed to have made its own approach to their ice.
Arsenal's striving for Sesko comes after Leipzig was not eligible for the Champions League, making them willing to cash in the right price. However, that price is still north of £ 60 million and Arsenal is not yet on the same page as the sales club.
Sesko was strongly connected to Arsenal last summer and his decision to sign a new contract in 2024 did not delay the pursuit of the London Club. However, if they miss the former man of Red Bull Salzburg, they could still return for another former target in Aston Villa and England -star Ollie Watkins.
