Former striker of Manchester United Andrew Cole admitted that the club had a “crazy start” from the 2025-26 season and insisted on “beating the ground”.
United will start their campaign at home against Arsenal, and according to Opta's Power Rankings, the most difficult start of the season.
This is only the second time in the history of the English competition that United Arsenal organizes in their first game of the season and previously beat them 4-1 in 1989-90.
After they stand opposite the Gunners, they have Fulham and Burnley, with Manchester City and Chelsea who complete their first five opponents.
United has won their opening game of the season more than any other side in the Premier League (22), while they also have the best Win Rate on MD1 on one side to play in more than one season (67%).
It will also be the ninth consecutive campaign that they started with a home game.
“It's a crazy start,” Cole told Sky Sports. “I'm not going to stand here and say that it will be a barometer of this team.
“To start such a start, you have to run the ground. It will be interesting. Fingers are crossed, they can go outside and get some positive results that ride the trust and then continue.”

It will be the first complete United campaign under Ruben Amorim, which last season supervised the lowest Premier League finish of the club ever of the 15th.
Amorim won only seven of his 27 league games that were in charge in 2024-25 (D6 L14), on average only 1.0 points per match, while his winstratio is only 25.9%.
Asked if he thought it was important that United made a fast start under Amorim in the coming season, Cole added: “I would believe that.
“The crazy thing is, after a difficult season last season, to start like this, it's crazy, but I think that's where Manchester United is right right now.
“But as I said, in the end you can only go outside, do your best, try to win football matches early doors and then build trust and build Momentum.”
