Arsenal has to do work in the transfer window if they want to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title next season, but announce a new signature this summer
It is fair to say that Arsenal has not been running entirely in the transfer window in the transfer window so far, to the frustration of many supporters.
The Gunners are expected to be one of the busier parties on the market, because manager Mikel Arteta is looking forward to fighting for the Premier League title in the midst of fierce competition from reigning champions Liverpool and Manchester City.
There is a lot of pressure on the Spaniard after another season without silverware and he needs some additions to close the gap on their rivals. New transfer head Andrea Berta has just arrived and would be hard to work to secure newcomers.
There are many areas that have to improve arsenal in their team – not least after they have been left without a recognized No. 9 for a large part of the 2024-25 campaign. The team needs that more than ever after it has had a difficult start of the season after the new games were announced.
Arteta could also do with a new midfielder after losing Jorginho to a free transfer and a new winger is also high on their list of priorities to upgrade the team. Here is the transfer state at the Emirates after the window has been reopened on Monday.
Confirmed signing sessions
As mentioned, Arsenal has to reveal a new signature this summer – what a concern is, considering how busy the Rivals Manchester City and Liverpool have been.
Even Manchester United has confirmed one purchase with the arrival of Matheus Cunha. With Liverpool that signed Jeremie Frimpong and adds £ 116.5 million Florian Wirtz and £ 45 million Milos Kerkez, they will be even more difficult to stop – while Manchester City has added Tijjan Reijnders.
Arsenal is linked to many players and one that is expected to be completed soon is the real Sociedad -midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
The Spanish international is assessed as one of the best midfielders in Europe at the moment after his stunning season in La Liga and he would add some real steel and quality to the midfield of Arsenal. Last week it was revealed that Arsenal would pay more than his £ 51 million release clause to have his signature secure.
There has been reports that the deal lasted longer than expected because Sociedad wanted it to go through for accounting reasons in July – while Arsenal exchanged the structure of the transfer. So hopefully for supporters it won't be too long before their first signing is revealed.
Next goals
In addition to Zubimendi, Arsenal hunts for a new attacker and have two primary goals – Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres.
Both deals have been complex to negotiate, where Red Bull Leipzig and Sporting Lisbon demanded high prices respectively.
According to a report from the German Outlet Bild, Arsenal has already agreed personal conditions with the Slovenian attacker Sesko and they must now agree with his club – who is said to hold a fee between £ 68.5 million and £ 85.5 million.
Arsenal will fly out for their pre-season tour through Asia next month and it is said that the confidence is growing that they can go out a deal before that time.
As far as Gyokeres are concerned, Die Deal looks much more complicated with the sports of Hardball about their Star Striker, who scored 53 times in all competitions last season and is one of Europe's most sought after attackers.
Arsenal seems to be at the steering place to sign Gyokeres after he has rejected United, but the player has remained furious by his club that is inflatable his price tag and is reportedly rejected by the air this week.
The President of Sporting recently stated that he would not sell the striker for £ 60 million, so it is likely that Arsenal would have to punch a huge compensation to sign him.
Another target for Arsenal is Athletic Bilbao -wing player Nico Williams, although the North Londers are confronted with heavy competition from Barcelona to break the Spain International.
Confirmed departure
Arteta has already said goodbye to two players who have left for free transfers – Jorginho, who joined the Brazilian side Flamengo and Kieran Tierney. The Scottish international is again signed for Celtic.
Those rooms have added some space to maneuver in the wage budget, while Arteta has also raced a number of money from permanent outputs.
Forgotten left back Nuno Tavares, who has spent the last three seasons on loan – has joined Lazio with about £ 7.6 million after spending the last campaign with for the Italian side.
In the meantime, Forward Marquinhos can no longer be seen in front of the first team of Arsenal since his first season in 2022-23 and has since been borrowed in all four seasons and now he has finally had his exit, with Brazilian side cruzeiro who buys the 22-year-old.
Eying outputs
An Arsenal player who seems to be close to leaving North Londs is midfielder Thomas Peny.
The Ghana International signed for about £ 45 million from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and he has been a useful member of the team, as a result of which 167 performances appeared for five seasons, but is expected to leave when his contract ends at the end of the month.
Without news about an expansion that has been coming in recent weeks, his future seems more likely to leave the Emirates. At the start of the month, the club announced that “discussions were underway” about a possible new deal.
Even if he committed his future to Arsenal, he would play a lesser role in the first team next season – especially when the arrival of Zubimendi is announced. Fenerbahce, Barcelona and AC Milan have all been associated with making him on a free transfer.
There have also been reports that attacker Leandro Trossard could leave for a Saudi Pro League club to struggle to earn a regular playing time, whereby his wife even teased a “farewell” message on social media while she lifted a message “grateful for the beautiful moments”.
