Benjamin Sesko’s agent moves to ‘clarify a few things’ amid Arsenal ‘agreement’

Slovenia and RB Leipzig-striker Benjamin Sesko is one of the most requested strikers this summer and his agent spoke about the future of the Arsenal-linked frontman

The agent Elvis Basanovic of Benjamin Sesko has denied that he exerted the pressure on RB Leipzig to lower their asking price for the rush. Sesko is supposed to have agreed personal conditions with Premier League Side Arsenal, but the Gunners still have work to do.

Leipzig is willing to sell Sesko after missing the qualification of the Champions League, but only if they receive a substantial fee – thought north of £ 60 million. Basanovic believes that everything will become clear in due course, but moved to “clarify” the situation and insisted that he would not insist on a lower fee out of respect for the Bundesliga side.

“This is far from the truth!” He told Givemesport when he was asked about rumors about leaning at Leipzig about their asking price “We respect RB Leipzig and I am 100% convinced that RB Leipzig will also respect our decision for the next step when we decide to do it.”

He added: “Even if there can be a strong wish of the player – or will be to move to a certain club, we will never force or blackmail RB Leipzig. I believe this is not the right way because the way you actually go out of the club, shows your values. Values that you bring in a new club.

“I can understand it in very large transfers, there are many different interests, but whatever happens, I believe that the football world should be more respect. So that's why we do things in the right way or we don't do them. It is very simple, even in the media it looks very complicated.”

Last season, Sesko scored 21 goals in all competitions for Leipzig, with 13 of those in the Bundesliga. That was enough for him to end the season as the top scorer of his team, but a collapse of the late season saw their European hope rise in smoke.

With five games to go, Leipzig was in the fourth and last Champions League qualifying place. However, none of those last five won, and that saw them completely missing the European qualification.

Sesko was linked to an arsenal switch in the summer of 2024, only to sign a new contract with his current club instead. That deal runs until 2029, although he could leave earlier.

“We have a team with a great potential and a balanced mix of young and experienced players. I am really looking forward to taking the next steps with this team,” said Sesko when his extension was confirmed.

“We have already achieved a lot in my first season and have often shown the amount of quality and excellent football that we can bring to the field. But there is much more to do and that is now our common goal.”
