Manchester United is back to Antony this summer, and a return to Real Betis is a possibility. However, recent developments can make it more difficult for the Brazilian winger to return to Los Verdiblancos during the coming transfer window, which will be opened for La Liga clubs on July 1.
It is no secret that Betis wants to sign Antony again, who scored nine goals and registered five assists in 26 performances in all competitions. But with Man United, the POW is looking back to earn back many of the transfer costs that they paid three years ago, it will be difficult for the funds that have to be generated, unless a number of considerable sales are made.
A number of other clubs have set their sights on Antony, which made it more difficult for betis to get a deal on their conditions. And their efforts will be further affected, so that it has been reported by Ben Jacobs (via ED) that Man United will not consider another loan movement for the player.
Man United plans to seal a transfer for Antony, who is also in favor of the permanent leaving Old Trafford. But although his first option will be to return to Andalusia, it is unlikely that the reported asking price will be lowered.
It is no surprise that Man United has taken this position and not only because they have to raise money after not securing the European qualification for the 2025-26 campaign. Antony will no longer be a contract in two years, and if he is still in their books in 2026, his value would be considerably lower.
It is still to be seen whether Betis is able to make a concrete attempt to sign Antony again, but if they can, it would be wonderful news for them if he could return to a permanent basis.
