Florian Wirtz reportedly completed the first part of his Medical in Liverpool prior to his sensational British record £ 116 million move to Anfield.
Wirtz flew from Cologne before he landed on Manchester Airport on Thursday afternoon and becomes the second main signing of the Reds of the Summer after Jeremie Frimpong also arrived from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to Sky Germany, the first round of his medical checks went without hitch, while the second half will take place on Friday.
The playmaker will then officially put pen on paper on an expected five -year contract.
The developments mean that Liverpool comes closer to the coup after he had defeated Bayern Munich and Manchester City to the talented 22-year-old.
Wirtz will give a fee worth £ 116 million, with a basic costs of £ 100 million guaranteed.
The combined reimbursement will be the most expensive British transfer in history and the honor of Chelsea's Moises Caicedo, a former target in Liverpool.
Wirtz will now make contact with former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Frimpong.
Wirtz and Frimpong – who completed his own move to Liverpool earlier this month – shared a photo of himself on a boat off the Montenegro coast this week.
They will probably connect on the field shortly after they have enjoyed good success together in Germany.
The duo won a domestic double under Xabi Alonso in 2023-24, before adding the German Super Cup to their collection last season.
Wirtz will soon be by his side, apart from any unforeseen setbacks.
Leverkusen initially played hardball when Liverpool made an approach for Wirtz for the first time.
Liverpool had indeed returned substantial bids of approximately £ 100 million and £ 110 million, but eventually reached an agreement with the Bundesliga side.
The Reds are also set to take out a deal to sign Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez.
The father of the defender – and agent – Sebastijan has claimed that a move is a 'done deal', despite the cherries who control a hard bargain at the negotiating table.
Bournemouth is supposed to keep £ 45 million, but Sebastijan was determined that his son speeted a few small details, goes to Anfield.
“It is only Liverpool for us and we won't go anywhere else and we won't talk to other clubs,” Sadi Sebastijan. “Everything is done between our (personal conditions) We just have to pick a few details, but it is actually a foregone dealer.”
