Wojciech Szcezny is expected to follow his decision to sign a two -year contract extension in Barcelona.
The former Poland International developed from the beginning of 2025 into a key figure in the side of Hansi Flick after his arrival of free transfer.
Barcelona used a La Liga rule to sign a keeper outside the regular transfer window after a serious injury to no. 1 Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the opening weeks of the campaign.
The first plan for Inaki Pena to get in – with Szczesny as cover – was torn apart, because of the shape of the latter and Pena now seems to be sure from Catalonia.
The importance of Szczesny in Flick's plans made sure that the club would offer him another year, but reports from Mundo Deportivo claim that the agreement will be until the end of the 2026/27 season.
No official decision will be made until the former Juventus Stopper returns from his summer vacation, but he is happy to stay on despite the arrival of Joan Garcia.
Garcia's switch over the city has caused controversy, but he will clearly be number 1 for Flick, who could open the output door for the recurring Ter Stegen.
Barcelona is now reportedly open to the sale of their captain, despite his determination to stay and to fight for his place, against Garcia.
Ter Stegen is not happy with how Barcelona has dealt with the case, with no one who speaks with the 33-year-old before Garcia signs.
But the hard appeal of the club is that they were not needed to give him an explanation because they would not have consulted their attackers before they sign a new one.
Flick will hold emergency interviews with Ter Stegen later this month to decide his future with a back -uprol that has the only available option for the German international available at this stage.
